Īt their most basic, these features promise that they won't record visited sites to the browsing history, save cookies that show you've been to and logged into sites, or remember credentials like passwords used during sessions. It's meant to hide, and not always conclusively at that, your tracks from others with access to the personal computer. That's it. That's because private browsing is intended to wipe local traces of where you've been, what you've searched for, the contents of forms you've filled. Simply put, going "incognito" is as effective in guarding online privacy as witchcraft is in warding off a common cold.

I never contacted the ISP about the issue - I just went through the configuration as set by the ISP during install and set it more to my preferences (also closed the "holes" that they had left open - I can do my own troubleshooting).Ĭonclusion - for those experiencing Browser issues with BD - check DNS set-up. Problems resolved and performance restored - especially on search results pages being checked by BD scanner. On the PC's in our home network I manually configured the DNS server addresses (used the 2 Google public DNS servers first followed by the 2 actual DNS servers from the ISP that the modem was configured to use). The cable modem installed by the ISP runs some kind of DNS name server and it was configuring the connections (DHCP) with its address for DNS. This was shortly after I installed BD and changed ISP (and broadband speed). I did encounter a performance issue with all my browsers in January - not loading properly, pages not loading (reload later messages), major slowdowns, etc. I rarely use IE so I have not really verified them together. Trusteer does run with BD in IE 9 and Firefox 10.0.2 - Release Channel. Trusteer does not run in my Chrome browsers (Beta & Canary) - not supported by Trusteer. That thread can be found here: Strange Behaviour Post. This was not obvious as Action Center showed BD Firewall ON and Windows Firewall OFF - but another poster advised me to check a few things when I had posted about another issue. When I did have performance (slow down) issues with the browsers it turned out that Windows firewall service had somehow been turned back on after I installed BD. I read about a lot of issues with various browsers and BD on the forms here - but I have not had ANY issues related to BD.

I am using BitDefender Total Security 2012 with multiple browsers (and multiple versions of them) with no problems / or conflicts with BD: Hopefully this will be supplied in a timely fashion and complete an almost great anti-virus suite.

This is not the case so I am not here to complain but maybe add to the censuse that Bitdefender obviously needs some serious patch work. Luckily I have not had any major issues however if they had been I would definitely be very frustrated. I have not had too much time between responses which is good because I can imagine that with all the issues with Bitdefender 2012 that he is very busy. My communications with Christian have been a bit redundant but I have no idea what the process of troubleshooting these things are so I can at least say this, that we have been trying many angles and still working on the issue. I just thought that I would put it out there especially in this topic. Nothing like what I have seen in these forums. In Internet Explorer all of the search engines utilize the search adviser. When using other search engines in Chrome it works fine. In this case the search adviser does not show up in the search results. Everything has worked with Bitdefender quite well other than the search adviser when using Chrome and Google's search engine. I have recently installed Bitdefender on a new Windows 7 64 bit laptop.

I would like to add an issue about Chrome + Bitdefender.
